Hugh at the Alter Schlachthof, Eupen, Belgium.

The Alter Schlachthof (Old Slaughterhouse) is a group of old buildings of the industrial age
now repurposed as a versatile and well-equipped arts centre in the centre of Eupen. Hugh
has played several concerts there over the years, and his "50 Years of Songwriting" concert
series was originally planned to take place there in 2020. Due to the Covid 19 epidemic it
was first rescheduled to October 2022 and then to June 2023 (see the NEWS page).

During my visit to Eupen in late 2022, Hugh took me on some walks to a few of his favourite
places in and around the town, including a tour of the Alter Schlachthof complex, with its
gallery and performance areas. We also visited two of Belgium's impressive dams and took
a long walk in the Hertogen Forest, on the border between East Belgium and Germany.
