The tourist information booth is on the east side of the harbour near the customs and duty free shop, right where all ferries land. Friendly and helpful, they also provided informative literature about the island free of charge.
 Accommodation
Of the two travel agents on Kastellorizo harbour, we found Papoutsis Travel Agency greeklodgings.gr by far the most helpful (thanks Irini). They found us a very nice studio apartment in an old house near the main harbour, with TV, air conditioning and fully equipped kitchen for 55 euros per night.
The friendly and enterprising couple Monika and Damien rent rooms and run the excellent Olive Garden Restaurant and the Caretta gift shop (behind the Nea Agora on the main harbour). Tel: +30 22460 49 109. They also have a website with information about Kastellorizo: www.kastellorizo.de

Mandraki Paradise rent comfortable maisonettes on Mandraki harbour. Their website (English, Greek, French, Italian) also has photos and info about the island.

The modern municipal Megisti Hotel (see photos on gallery pages 15, 16 and 71) at the northwestern end of the main harbour is the place to stay for a touch of luxury and great views across the bay. It also has a large sun terrace on the water's edge, with a bar and steps into the sea for swimmers.

Rooms become rare in Summer, especially in July and August, so advanced booking is advisable. Pension owners are particularly reluctant to rent rooms for short stays (1- 2 nights), as a boat or plane full of guests wishing to stay longer may arrive at any time...
Kastellorizo's only bank services and cash machine (ATM) are at the tiny branch of the National Bank of Greece on the harbour front near the ferry berth.

Australian Friends of Kastellorizo, founded by former Kastellorizians who emigrated to Australia and their descendants, the Friends are engaged in a variety of activities to support the culture, education and environment of the island as well as to maintain ties between "Kassies" in Greece and abroad.
