Athena, wearing a mural crown, chiton, peplos, aegis and Gorgoneion, and holding
a spear and shield, offers an olive tree to the Athenian Acropolis. Poseidon,
naked and holding a trident, creates a spring which gushes from between his feet.

1. Karl Schwerzek's reconstruction of the West pediment of the Parthenon

Karl Schwerzek (1848-1918) was an Austrian sculptor who specialized in historical subjects. He published his study of the west pediment in 1896. A second edtion in 1904 added drawings and photos, including one of his reconstruction models.
