To the west of Kastellorizo's main harbour, the 2.5 kilometre long peninsular stretches northwards as a series of hills, ending at Cape Stephanos (gallery pages 11 and 12). Along the broad central hill you can see the red scar of the dirt track made by the military.
To the east of the U-shaped bay, the Kavos headland on which the Knights' Castle (gallery pages 204 - 222) stands, separates the main harbour from the smaller port of Mandraki (right) (gallery pages 223 - 227).
Just inland of Mandraki is the Horafia (fields) district with its churches and schools (gallery pages 228 - 243).
In the background the resort of Kaş, 7 km away on the Turkish coast, is clearly visible.
